2 Samuel 5:12And David realized that the Lord had appointed him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.”
>>>This first part of the verse sets up the rest of the message, and it does so through the word “realized”.
*“realized” is believed. David is looking around at his situation and believing that it was by God’s hand everything was falling into place.
>>>There are three things David realized as he began his reign as king.

DAVID REALIZED HIS ESTABLISHMENT.

>>>David was appointed by God as king.
*The word “appointed” refers to being “established” or “founded”
*God was Who established David as king. He put him there.
>>>All of us are established by God in some way or another, especially those of us who are believers.
>>>We need to see where we are currently in our lives and realize God’s involvement in it. We often wonder what our purpose is in life and where God wants us to be in the future. But sometimes we can where God placed us in the present.
>>>(Illust.) Men’s Bible study @ HBC.
>>>Bob Rossiter: “You are not in a waiting period. God has you here.”
>>>God has you HERE.

2 Samuel 5:12 “And David realized that the Lord had appointed him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.”
>>>David also saw God’s hand not just in the establishment of his kingdom, but the exaltation of his kingdom.

DAVID REALIZED HIS EXALTATION.

>>>The word “exalted” is to be “raised in rank, character, or status”. God had made David’s kingdom raised above everything else.
>>>In previous verses, David was hiding from King Saul. During this time Saul and his son were both killed in battle, which was the beginning of a series of events that tore down his kingdom and brought up David’s.
>>>God chose David.
>>>Not only does God place us in where we need to be, but He exalts us to accomplish His will.
>>>It is so easy to look at success through the eyes of how great we think we are. But we must look at everything being given to us by God to bring about His will.
*You are great at sports because of God.
*You are someone people look up to because of God.
*You make good grades because of God.
*You are chosen and looked upon with favor because of God.
*God is Who exalts us.

2 Samuel 5:12 “And David realized that the Lord had appointed him as king over Israel, and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.”
>>>David saw that he was king over Israel, and his kingdom was rising, and while this can be interpreted as God’s favor and blessing on David, it was done because of God’s people.

DAVID REALIZED HIS PURPOSE.

>>>God loved His people-Israel. David being king was through God reigning over His people for good.
>>>God had a standard for the kings of His people. They weren’t just to be simply rulers who decided things. They were to be shepherds. They were to rule with care for the people.
>>>David was established/exalted to shepherd God’s people-not just because David was just a good guy in God’s eyes.
>>>We cannot miss that God blesses us ultimately for HIS purpose. We are here to carry out God’s will.
*Whenever kings left their God-given purpose, it affected all of society and eventually substituted God’s blessing for His judgment.
*What God gives you, He can take away. It’s a matter of your choice to follow Him.
==============================================================
>>>God has a will He seeks to be done on earth, and He takes His will very seriously.
>>>God has a purpose for you in accomplishing His will, and He takes His purpose for you very seriously.

WE CAN CHOOSE WHETHER WE FOLLOW GOD’S WILL.

>>>Are we going to be people after God’s heart like David or will we be like other kings who chose to step outside God’s will for them and His people?
>>>God has place you where He wants you and will give you the grace you need to both experience His blessings and accomplish your purpose.
*This affects every aspect of life (heart/mind/soul/school/work/society/friends/family/alone).
